Partnership between Overleaf and Cambridge University Press provides a new academic authoring experience
London, UK and Boston, USA – November 30th, 2016: Three journals to provide authors with Overleaf’s cloud-based writing and collaborative features and streamlined submission process - Overleaf, an innovative provider of scientific writing and publishing tools, today announced a partnership with Cambridge University Press (CUP) - the publishing business of the University of Cambridge.
Through this new partnership, authors of three Cambridge journals (see below) are able to write and collaborate using LaTeX into pre-formatted templates, and directly submit manuscripts created in the Overleaf platform to the journals involved. This will simplify the submission process for authors and offer an easier and faster way to collaborate and write articles.
The next phase of this implementation will allow CUP to capture structured manuscript metadata, correctly compiled LaTeX files and PDFs directly into their submission systems - all via a one-click submission link.
Emily Marchant, Author Services Manager at CUP said:
"Through this exciting partnership with Overleaf, we are able to offer our authors an innovative tool that can simplify the writing process, support them with writing in LaTeX, further aid collaboration and streamline submission. The partnership supports our aim to serve the changing needs of our authors with the most effective solutions, and to fulfill our core purpose of advancing learning, knowledge and research worldwide."
John Hammersley, Co-founder & CEO of Overleaf says:
“We are extremely proud to be working with Cambridge University Press who are dedicated to delivering the latest technology innovations to their authors. Furthermore, it’s exciting to provide researchers a simple option for writing and submitting manuscripts to the selected Cambridge journals, simplifying the publication process. Together we share a like-minded goal - to encourage and improve academic collaboration. It’s great to work with such a prestigious global team.”
The three Cambridge journals included in this initial launch are:
- Political Science Research & Methods
- British Journal of Political Science
- Publications of the Astronomical Society of Australia
This collaboration will also include: LaTeX template development and enhancement for these three journals; a customized, CUP branded editing environment on Overleaf; a metrics and analytics dashboard for CUP admin; and customer support via Overleaf (for authors and editors as required).
You can view and use the three templates here.
